Soft morning sunlight streaming across a wooden table beside a window, with an open Bible, handwritten journal and pen, delicate white flowers in a glass jar, and a cream knitted blanket draped nearby, creating a peaceful and reflective atmosphere.

The Quiet Faith of a Mother

Memories of you

Are as gentle, peaceful, as the morning dew……

As the bus pulls up you would say

“I love you and have a great day!”

As we whisk off into the big world

You would say a prayer as only a mother could

“Please lord watch over my sheep.”

Children sometimes take too big of a leap

so ready for things, they know not of

But it’s up to me, to look above

When they end their day

and I greet them at the door

They would say testimonies of many galore

Tears would stream down my face

Because they would sing words of grace

Theres nothing better I could’ve instilled in them

The blessings, the faith, your words, the hymns

I will always remember the stories you told

And how your love never once grew old

The way you cared and prayed each day

Still follows me in many ways

Even now when life moves fast

Your gentle wisdom continues to last

Thank you Lord for bringing such joy into our home

My children will always know, they will never be alone

As they walk through life, I hope they know

You are waiting, looking below

Through the eyes of a child: I love you Momma.

Looking back now, I realize this poem was written from two places at once.

Part of it came through the eyes of a child still remembering the comfort, faith, and love of her mother. But another part of it was already being written through the heart of a mother herself — beginning to understand the weight of those prayers, the quiet worry, and the deep love that follows your children everywhere they go.

At the time, I may not have fully realized I was standing in the middle of both roles at once.
